Large Format Printer And Printer Paper Used

The very first dot matrix printer was produced in Massachusetts in 1970 and its technology consisted of print heads that run back and forth and strike on inked ribbons in the form of dots. It’s these dots that form the characters and as such are not crispy clear or easy to read as in today’s printers. It did however print quite fast and the models produced later on were much more flexible and came with improved features. Even today, in spite of so many modern and vastly improved printers being available in the market, there are many financial establishments that use these the dot matrix printer because of its speed and low cost.

Anyone wanting to invest in a dot matrix printer today will find to his surprise that it is more expensive than an inkjet printer although the paper used in the former is cheaper and is much easier to maintain and replace the ink ribbon unlike the toners and cartridges in the modern day printers.

Another great benefit of the dot matrix printer is its ability to make carbon copies and will not stop printing even if the ribbon has seen its last. Another use for this printer is it can print a large volume continuously making it the ideal printer for organizations that have a large staff working to create salary sheets and data logs.

Another useful but seldom used printer these days is the large format printer which is mostly used by printing companies and businesses involved in the printing of large graphics such as posters and banners and also by companies that require large spreadsheets with several columns to be printed. Graphic art studios make good use of the large format printer which they use to print large size layouts and big photos without sacrificing the quality of the print.

They also have an abundance of ink tanks as you can imagine and are capable of switching between different types of paper such as matt and photo gloss. A large format printer also requires tabloid size paper and is usually able to print photos that are even larger than 13 inches by 19 inches. There are however very high quality models that are capable of printing gallery quality prints for which the printer manufacturers provide the best quality and most suitable paper to use with the printer.

Printing technology used in these printers can change according to their brands; but most use inkjet or laser printer technology with the printer paper used depending on the job that needs done. There is a variety of printer paper that can be used on this printer including standard printing paper that comes in reams. Being thin and extremely absorbent, it is OK for simple, straightforward jobs. For the printing of graphics however an excessively absorbent paper is not suitable because it gives the printed article a wavy appearance.

The best is said to be coated paper which is thick and heavy and although absorbs ink does not warp or spread it but allows it to be spread evenly across the paper. For those who require a better finish, of for printing large photos, glossy printer paper which is coated can be used and will provide the same results as an in photographs with a shiny finish. It is therefore mostly used for portraits in view of the professional and polished look it gives and as such is considered the best printer paper for photographs.

Are You In Need Of Specialty Printer Paper? Have You Looked Online?

When it comes to almost anything we are looking for or need, I always suggest that people take a look online. When comparing shopping on an online store versus an offline store, you are always going to see an amazing jump in prices. I'm talking a few hundred to a few thousand dollars in savings. The great thing about shopping online is that you still can find all the products and services you want. And if it's good quality paper that you want, such as printable paper, heavyweight paper, custom stock sheets and custom paper size - it's all available online.

You know, some people can really get away with using low quality paper because they are just printing up stuff once in awhile and it's not anything important. However, for those of you that use paper on a daily basis and you use it for things like reports, presentations, graphs, photography, or writing - you NEED quality paper that is going to stand up to the test of time, and will also store nicely as well. In these cases, you really need to look for a store online that is going to offer specialty paper.

These specialty stores are going to have all kinds of options that other stores won't have. When you're really into paper you know that different sizes matter, and also colors, materials, thicknesses, etc. This is going to essentially be important to your company and what you are using it for because chances are not everyone is going to use the same kind of paper. If we all did use the same kind, then stores like this wouldn't exist. But they do exist!

For example, for a presentation project for your company, you might want to use something like heavyweight paper made out of classic linen. Whereas if you are a photographer that is printing out photos or posters, you might need something like matte or glossy paper finish. All of us have different needs, but with a store like this that offers a little bit of everything, you can find several different types of options and paper that you will need.

Plus, since it's a specialist store, even if you need the same type of paper with different dimensions or custom stock sheets, you can simply do it at ONE store instead of shopping at one store for the paper and getting it cut yourself - which by the way is going to cost MORE money! Instead, you could get everything you want, at one store, and save money!

After all, isn't that the basis of any company or profession? High quality workability with low cost overhead! Also, some of these stores online will also offer samples to you as well. Sometimes you will have to pay for the shipping and handling on these samples, and sometimes they will just send them for free. I like this option because I can physically touch, feel and see what its like before I make my final decision if it's the perfect paper for me or not! This is going to help with that "oops" factor!
